This guide will help people using Google Chrome to properly access online forms.

I use Google Chrome and forms don't display correctly

Recent releases of Google Chrome 8 feature a built in PDF reader, which may prevent online forms opening correctly.

Workaround 1 - Download to local computer

Instead of opening the online form within Google Chrome browser, download the form to your local drive, open it with Adobe Reader to fill in the form and submit

1.    Right click (Ctrl + click on Mac) on the PDF logo and select “Save link as” option as below.

2.    Select a folder (e.g. Desktop) in “Save As” window and click “Save” button.

3.    Navigate to the selected folder, right click on the downloaded PDF file, select “Open With” and select Adobe Reader.

Workaround 2 - Alternative browser

Use an alternative browser, such as Internet Explorer to open the form.

 

Solution

If the online form does not display correctly using Chrome, please try the following steps.

  1. In the address bar, type 'chrome://plugins' and open this page (press <enter> or equivalent)
  2. Find the 'Chrome PDF Viewer' plugin, and select 'Disable'.
  3. Find the 'Adobe Reader' or 'Acrobat PDF' plug-in.
  4. Enable the 'Adobe PDF' plugin and tick "Always allowed" box for Adobe Reader.
